The league tables are not automatically updated after every contact. To update your league table position, return to "My home page" and click the "Update" link.
Unfortunately no. Your WOTA login is the user name for the system that the site was developed in, which just happens to be your callsign. The software does not provide a facility to change a username.
When you log contacts you can specify the call you used, which does not have to be the same as your user name. This way, all of the contacts made using any of the calls you have held will count towards your totals. However, spots and forum postings will be shown using your original call / user name.
If you wish, you can of course create a new account under your new call and start with a clean sheet.
No. Although a "repeater assisted" category was originally introduced, only one station claimed a total of two points in the category so it was removed. Only direct contacts may now be counted for points.
The rules for claiming a WOTA award state: "A confirmed contact in this context means that it should exist in the WOTA log database, and be matched by a corresponding entry in the activator's log. Unconfirmed contacts may be accepted for Worked All Wainwrights at the award manager's discretion, but further proof of the contact (such as a QSL card, or evidence of the contact in the SOTA database) may be required."
The key word here is may. If an award claim consists of an unusually high proportion of contacts with stations that are not otherwise known to have operated from the Wainwright fells then proof of contact may be required. But we realise that not every operator who activates a fell-top will log all their contacts in the database, although it is very easy and quick and we hope that most people will do so.
Yes. The criteria for a qualifying contact are the same for WOTA as for SOTA, so if a portable station operating from a Wainwright summit counts for SOTA, the contact counts for WOTA as well.
If you make a contact with a portable station that is operating casually from a fell-top and has no specific knowledge of either scheme then the contact may also count if you know that the station is operating in accordance with the rules for activators. However, proof of contact may be required if an award claim contains many contacts with stations whose activations are not recorded anywhere. Therefore we recommend that you let the operator know that you will be claiming the contact for a WOTA point.
You must have worked xxxx before on the same summit during this period. Please check the rules for chasers. Fell runner points are awarded per activator per fell.
No. For WOTA it is only the station call that is important. The band or mode used is not important and not logged on the WOTA database, therefore contacts made using different bands or modes cannot be counted as separate contacts.
